Last Chance

I wasn’t looking for salvation
I didn’t need what would soon be near
I was at a point in life
Where things were so clear

Well I enjoyed every minute
Every single word you said
I kept waiting for you to show me
Why others had fled

It didn’t happen
No it never changed
I stood there getting more and more and more amazed.

But it was my last chance,
My last dance
A victim of something more than just circumstance
I know you know what we already know
It was my last chance
Cause I’ve got to go

I woke those mornings lifted
I admit it was not hard to do
I was talking to myself
In whispers to you

You must be joking
Yeah this can’t be real
It just seems too perfect,
Too ideal

I don’t understand why you’re not taken
I don’t get why you’re alone
It’s not every day
That you just come along

So thank you for those evenings
As I go back to where I came from
We may have danced a little close
But I can’t succumb

Make no mistake
You touched something deep
And it won’t be very long
Until someone takes this leap
