Should Have Been Looking For (You)

Sometimes things will just find you
They just seem to appear
You’ll find there’s nothing there to fine tune
It all seems clear

I had done my share of searching
And how long did I wait
How strong was I lurching
At all the wrong traits

This one, took me without warning
And it shook me to my core
Who could have thought that it would
Hook me more and more
You’re what I should’ve been looking for

I wasn’t doing that bad then
I was doing alright
More than good with what I had when
This came to light

I didn’t need to find the right one
I just accepted what it was
I didn’t think that the bright sun
Could shine like it does

I looked around and got so run down
I pounded pavement each day
Thought I was bound to run aground
Cause I never found my way
I was surrounded by mistakes

I hope that there’s nothing in the background
Something with you I can’t see
Because I could never track down
